What people say about Joo Bar

45 reviews
  • Ambience is amazing with loud Korean tunes and jolly conversation filling the small but cozy place

  • Note this one down for dinner and drinks with your mates

  • Order their tender Grilled Pork Belly ($26) that comes with kimchi and a side salad drenched in a creamy anchovy filled dressing

  • Another crowd favourite is the Seafood Rapokki ($22) that sees a rich and slightly spicy stew of ramyeon

  • Grilled pork was sliced up into just the right bite size

  • Slightly charred and salted just right and best have with the garlic chips topping

  • Loved having this with my Makgeolli and munching on the side salad that had anchovies sprinkled generously and lending an aromatic crunch

  • Can’t go wrong with tender grilled pork and kimchi

  • Joo Bar’s rendition went great with a giant jug of their slushy makgeolli

  • That side salad was really interesting too

  • The bone in short rib is steeped in some special soy marinade which makes it really nice and sweet and idk just amazing

  • This is really not for the faint hearted nor diners with low heat tolerance

  • Served in a hot plate and lit with a flame torch right in front of your eyes

  • This flaming chick jumeokbap‘s spiciness is not one to be underestimated

  • Just as the dish was lit with fire

  • Thought the combination of the side ingredients especially the rice ball was a little out of place in the dish

  • Snag my last chance to enjoy 1 for 1 at Joo Bar and no other person to enjoy it with than my mum

  • It is not difficult to understand why Joo Bar is so popular

  • The slightly pricey Korean small and big bites somehow works with the generous (for light drinkers) low alcoholic content Makgeolli

  • The above dish feels good till you stop at the salad concoction that surprises you with bites of small anchovies

  • Crazy gooey stringy molten cheese is the theme at Joo bar

  • The fried meat coated with sticky sauce was reminsce of our local sweet and sour pork

  • This tasted pretty normal especially after such a huge spectacle with the dish being lit up in flames

  • The pork belly slices were flavourful and the kimchi ratatouille was quite unique too

  • The meat texture was tender as well

  • The chicken went really well with the Makgeolli as it was crispy on the outside and super tender on the inside

  • Luxuriously coated with the sweet spicy gochujang sauce

  • Was expecting the meat might be a little dry from all the frying and glazing but it was juicy and especially good when you chew it with the gochujang sauce

  • Not a fan of tteobbokki but I gotta say this one was chewy and soft

  • I welcome the addition of chopped nuts because this was the distinctive factor that eliminates mundaneness in this anju

  • Ordered the original ($16 for small) together with two sides (anju

  • Korean side dishes with alcohol) ordered the soy chicken ($18) and calamari ($18) very delicious but only suitable as a light snack

  • Mouth watering crispy pancake with a medley of onion

  • Great dish to go with their signature house brewed makgeolli

  • Back to basic with this Korean classic savory stir fried chewy glass noodle

  • Except that other comments in the group were that the meat was a little tough

  • The grilled pork belly was quite a hit

  • Grilled till slightly charred and seasoned with black pepper

  • Wonderful execution with garlic chips sprinkled on top that helps with an additional aroma

  • Meltingly tender juicy bone in beef short rib with a delicious Korean sweet soy marinade

  • Korean style short ribs are cut lengthwise across the rib bones resulting in a thin strip of meat

  • Enjoy this with the makgeolli (Korean rice wine)

  • They serve the original along with tons of interesting flavors

  • Sweet glaze that is so crispy and sticky you’ll coat everything in this

  • The tteokbokki was soft and chewy
